Fremont Older Open Space Preserve

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon one day in mid January and my brother and I had some free time to kill so we decided to go on a short hike. Our only requirements (if you can even call them that) were that we had a great view at the destination of the hike and we had to be somewhere we had never been before. What we found was the perfect answer...Fremont Older Open Space Preserve at the western end of Prospect Road in Saratoga, California.

There is some wildlife in Fremont Older Open Space Preserve
Not only is this park very pleasing to the eye, it also has trails criss-crossing and winding all around this some-odd acre park. Trails from this park also connect with adjacent parks so you could walk for days if you really want to, maybe even end up at the ocean if you found the right path.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium

One place you have to go if you are ever in the Monterey Bay area of California, just south of San Jose and the Silicon Valley, is the Monterey Bay Aquarium. See all types of marine life in one single visit: sharks, sea otters, all types of fish, crazy looking jelly fishes, sea stars, and so much more. Kids (and adults too) will love the touch tanks where they can observe stingrays and all sorts of cool tidal creatures.

I would plan on spending at least a few hours at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, just because there is so much to see and do. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop on your way out and pick up a souvenir and ask about our RoadSideSecrets Map of the area.
